If you are someone who would like to refinish your hardwood floor, then you should know that this is something which will take a few forms, based on the seriousness of the wear to the existing floor and how involved you would actually want to get. If you are up to it, then you’ll be able to take your floor to the bare wood and then decide to refinish it from ground zero, but in the life of the floor, you’ll be able to do that just once or twice. More typically though, you may want to screen the floor, which involves taking off and then replacing the gloss finish, but not the stain. Below you’ll learn more about hardwood floor refinishers.
Floor buffer
The first step you’ll have to take involves setting up your floor buffer by using a heavy screening pad. You should start the machine and then carefully move it along the floor in the floorboards’ direction. Next, you’ll have to take off the top layer of the existing finish across the room in courses.
Vacuum, load, screen
At this point you’ll have to pick up your vacuum and vacuum thoroughly, to make sure you get the dust out. Using the medium screening pad, you should load your buffer. You’ll then need to screen it again, in the same way as you did before, as this will help you take of the leftover finish and after this, make sure you vacuum properly. At this point, you’ll have to screen the floor for the last time by using a fine screen so that the surface will get flat and smooth.
Lastly, apply a coat of polyurethane using a paint brush, let it cure for 6 hours and then sand it with extra fine sand paper. Add another coating and repeat the procedure and then add the final coat and let it set for twenty four hours.
