This is not a required certification for vets, but accreditation helps build the hospital’s reputation so that people know that the office in proficient in caring for animals.

Besides the accreditation, make sure that the care providers for your pets are licensed by the state you live in and that their business license is valid. They should also have connections with specialists for referrals.

Open Communication

Does the vet have open communication with you? Are they offering suggestions and alternatives, not just offering more and more of their products? As the customer, don’t hesitate to ask questions of your vet. Afterwards, see how your vet responds to your questions. They should show a genuine concern for your pet’s wellbeing. Also, your vet should be available if you need advice over the phone.
