In the BVI, when you charter a yacht, you should bring along the following unusual, yet extremely handy items. (They’re also cheap and pack easily, therefore there isn’t any reason not to take them!)
Water Bottles. You should always carry a water bottle for each individual. Something unique. This way everybody has their bottle for a week so they may fill up from gallon water bottles.
A Microlight. You can use a colored, small light which you can hang from the bimini on your boat as you leave in the nighttime. This way you easily can tell which boat is yours on your way home. Even if you have had some painkillers.
Dry sack. They’re really cheap and are good for carrying books and towels in the dingy to the beach.
A soft sided cooler. You can use yours to carry a bit of frozen food down with you yet more importantly you can use it to carry drinks over to the beach. It saves you a ton of money.
A thermometer. Boat refrigerators just operate as the engine is running. Therefore, you must check them to ensure they’re keeping the food cool. The issue is when it is 80° outside, when everything feels cooler. Someone once reported that they lost a whole fridge worth of food, therefore you should always carry an inexpensive fridge thermometer with you.
That is our list of what no one else will tell you to bring along yet is going to make your life much easier! These items are inexpensive (except for cooler) and simple to carry, as well!
While you’re planning, below include other helpful things you should pack:
1. Maps and books for planning
2. Fishing gear so you can catch Mahi-Mahi!
3. Take along games
