Save the Planet with Wildlife T Shirts

by | Apr 22, 2014 | Shopping and Fashion

Do you want to save the planet and look awesome doing it? Consider the purchase of a t-shirt highlighting threatened and endangered species. Recently there are companies that promote awareness by giving a portion of their proceeds to wildlife charities.

By buying one of these products not only do you inform people about these types of initiatives and encourage them to help, but also you’re actually directly helping these organizations by providing the funds needed to make these efforts possible.

A Little Awareness Goes a Long Way

When you think of Africa you might imagine elephants roaming free by the millions, which certainly would have been the case in 1930 when the elephant population was in between 5-10 million. But these days you would probably be surprised if you went there, since the elephant population has sadly become less than 10% of what it used to be. That is a scary statistic and sadly a recurring one for many large mammals all over the globe.

If you had the slogan “love the elephant” emblazoned on your bag or shirt, people might take notice. Perhaps they will question why the elephant image is on clothing and accessories, and if they research they will discover that this large animal, one of the most intelligent species on earth, is classified as vulnerable to extinction. Can you imagine Africa without elephants?

Awareness is the first stage in the equation to protecting elephants. If enough people become aware, and become concerned, we can next change our behavior as a human population with regard to elephant success. Obviously they need space for habitat. Beyond that we must stop killing them for their ivory. A healthy population is only sustainable if there is enough genetic diversity within that population. We must stop poaching elephants for ivory. You can yell it out, or you can wear it on your shirt. A Wildlife T shirts that says “Love the Elephant” will tell the world how you feel about this majestic and intelligent creature.

Helping Wildlife Doesn’t Stop at Elephants

There are many different species of wildlifel that need your help. The great cats- tigers, cheetahs, leopards and lions, are all in critical decline. Three species of tiger have gone extinct in the last 70 years. If we do not reverse these declines NOW, we face losing many magnificent creatures with whom we have shared this planet for millennia.

Not everyone has the ability to go to Africa and volunteer at a wildlife reserve but you can still show your support by wearing a wildlife custom printed T-shirt and you can inform everyone you know so they can find a way to help as well. It is time –now- to make changes in our human behavior that will support the rest of the animal kingdom, if we hope to have any of the great mammals left for our grandchildren to enjoy.
