As a light, airy and easy to work with fabric, voile makes the perfect addition to any head table, gift table or on cake tables for a wedding. It is also a perfect option to decorate and swag on buffet tables and gift tables at birthday parties, anniversaries or holiday celebrations.
To make a beautiful background to match with a party, wedding or event decor, voile drape can also be used behind the head table area or as a photo area for guests to use. While this is a very versatile fabric, there are some mistakes to avoid when using it as a voile drape or as a decorating element to swag across the front of tables, on the walls or the ceiling.
Don’t Skimp
Particularly with voile drape in the background, it is critical to use this as a gathered draping fabric. It is very sheer and lightweight, so if it is pulled too tightly and not bunched or gathered on the rod, it can be very transparent.
This will not provide the more solid looking background that will highlight the color of the fabric and provide a beautiful cover-up to an old wall or stage area. You can play with the bunching to create just the look you want.
Consider Layers
Just as you may use different layers of fabric for a window treatment, you can do the same with voile by combining different panels or drapes. This can include a true panel look that alternates colors. It can also include using a neutral color of voile through the middle panels and a contrasting or darker color on the edges as a frame.
When using either of these options, look carefully at how the color looks next to each other. Don’t make the mistake of choosing colors that are off in tone or that are too close in color to create the look you want.
